Biography for the Deputy Mayor, Meena Bond
"Born in 1965, I left East Pakistan during the Civil War in 1971. We initially lived in Richmond, moving to Kew the following year. I attended Putney Park School, Richmond College and London College of Journalism (previously London College of Printing), graduating in Business Studies and Communications.
I had a successful career in Recruitment but decided to take a break when my children were born. A few years later I started a company called Crafty Kids, an after school crafts club. I have since sold the business. I have been involved with various organisations and charities, working on projects where I have provided marketing advice and helped with fund raising activities.
I joined the Kew Conservatives about 3 years ago and was elected as a Councillor in 2010. I am so honoured to be elected Deputy Mayor of Richmond. I have lived in this area for nearly all my life and I truly feel blessed to live here. I look forward to helping the various charities and voluntary organistions raise their profile and raise runds.
I have been married for 22 years and have 3 teenage children. My interests include photography (particularly birds, flowers and insects) and art. I enjoy sailing, rowing and walking. I love music, everything from Diana Ross to Black Sabbath(!) and regularly attend concerts and music festivals."
