Waste Disposal Scrutiny Task Group

Purpose of the Task Group
Every year residents in the borough throw out enough waste to cover Twickenham Rugby Stadium with a pile of rubbish 50m deep. Most of this now goes to landfill but, under new legislation, this will soon no longer be possible.
In order to have input into the Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy for the West London Waste Authority (including Richmond upon Thames), Councillors decided to establish a Scrutiny Task Group to provide input into the strategy from this Borough and to facilitate residents' involvement. The strategy will determine what happens to the waste across the 6 London Boroughs for the next 20 years.
