What is the role of Co-opted Scrutiny Members?
You will contribute to the work of Overview and Scrutiny and support its aim of achieving better services for local people by helping to monitor performance, scrutinising the quality of public services and making recommendations for improvement. You will also be required to help find new ways of working and assist in the review and development of policies.
Key roles
- To act as a non-political voice for those who live and/or work in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
- To bring specialist knowledge and/or skills to the Overview and Scrutiny process and/or to bring an element of external challenge by representing the public.
- To take an interest in, attend and contribute to the Committees or Task Groups to which you are appointed.
- To establish good relations with other members, officers and co-optees.
- To abide by the relevant sections of the Council’s Constitution in terms of the rules and procedures for Overview and Scrutiny, Committee proceedings and the Code of Conduct.
- At all times seek to promote awareness, understanding and interest in the work of Overview and Scrutiny.
