Paying your Council Tax

Paying online

Using the Payments Online system via a secure site using a credit/debit card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This service applies to Business Rates, Social Services Debts, Sundry Debts and Richmond Mortgages.

Paying over the telephone

You can pay using a debit or credit card by phoning our dedicated line for payments on 0870 389 1389 (national call rate). As this is an automated line, this service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will be asked to input your council tax account number, which is shown on the front of your bill.

Paying by home banking

Via your bank or building society. Ring or transmit to your bank quoting your reference number, as well as the Council’s account number 30011274 (for Council Tax). The bank sort code is 20-72-17.

Paying by Direct Debit

You can download a Direct Debit form(pdf, 44KB). Once completed and signed please return the form to our offices. Please note that you must complete all parts of the form, including the official use box.

By completing the Direct Debit form you are giving the Council permission to collect payments from your bank account. Please note:

• We will tell you well in advance of the amounts and dates of payments.
• You stay in complete control and benefit from guaranteed safeguards. Please see the Direct Debit Guarantee at the bottom of the form.

Paying by standing order

To pay your Council Tax by standing order you need to provide your bank with our account details.

Please remember that the Council Tax account number (and only the account number) must be quoted on the standing order. This is to ensure that your payments are correctly processed.
