Passenger Transport Consultation
This consultation is now closed.
Purpose of consultation
Richmond Council provides a transport service taking around 100 adults to and from day centres and shopping, and over 300 children to and from school. The Council has made a commitment to protect it. There is, however, a lot of pressure on the costs of this service and spending has already been reduced in a number of ways. This includes providing some of the transport for children by external companies already, and that has worked well for some time.
The Council now has to look for other options to ensure the service continues and proposes that all the routes are provided by external companies. We believe this would allow us to continue to provide a high quality service that we can afford.
The Council will be contacting all parents/carers and service users directly to inform them of the consultation.
We would like to hear from you about any concerns you may have about the proposal. All the information you give us will be considered and used to make sure the service is the best it can be even though it is provided by someone else. A summary of the results will be published on this webpage in February/March 2012 and summary will also be sent to service users.
