Sheen Lane Centre - Public Space Improvement Consultation 22 August - 12 September 2007
The Council is pleased to announce that it has been awarded funding from Transport for London (TfL) to make improvements to the open space within the Sheen Lane Centre. This area is East Sheen’s largest urban public space, with a wide range of public facilities and the local community has been keen to make better use of the space for some time. The Mortlake with East Sheen Society approached the Council with an outline for a scheme to make improvements.
The aim of the scheme is to open up and declutter the area to promote more flexible use and to create a more attractive space with improved accessibility and safety.
The scheme is being jointly funded by TfL (£175,000) and London Borough of Richmond upon Thames (£30,000). Linked with this scheme is the TfL funded pavement improvement work from Mortlake Station along Sheen Lane beginning in September.
The major works are expected to begin mid September and be completed before Christmas.
