A special overview and scrutiny committee meeting is being held on the 16 November to allow people a final say on the proposed academies at Hampton Community College (HCC) and Whitton School, before plans are presented to Richmond Council’s Cabinet on Monday 23 November.
This opportunity is in addition to the formal consultation, and meetings held in a number of primary schools and the two secondary schools over recent weeks.
There will also be a chance to speak about the proposed academy at Shene School, following agreement from the Secretary of State for Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) to be the lead sponsors.
Cllr Malcolm Eady, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Education, will be attending the meeting along with council officers and representatives from sponsors Kunskapsskolan (sponsors for the proposed academies at HCC and Whitton) and AET.
Chair of the Children’s Services and Culture Overview & Scrutiny Committee, Cllr Suzette Nicholson, said:
“The proposed academies would mean significant changes to the schools and are obviously something that many people have been keen to have a say on.
“This is a good opportunity to question those overseeing the projects, particularly in the case of HCC and Whitton, with the proposals due to be considered by Cabinet the following week.”
If you interested in speaking at the meeting you must register your request with Gary Lelliott in Democratic Services on 020 8891 7275, by 2.00pm on Friday 13 November.
The meeting will be held at York House in Twickenham and starts at 7pm.
