The first-ever joint exhibition by renowned artists Jeffrey Spedding and Camilla Jessel Panufnik is being held at the Stables Gallery in Twickenham until 21 June.
The exhibition features works inspired by music, the visual arts, as well as the River Thames and the area around the gallery.
Mark De Novellis, Curator of exhibitions and collections at Richmond Council, who runs the Stables Gallery, says:
“It is a real coup to get the artists to showcase their work together. They have known each other for a number of decades and share a passion for music and visual arts, which are conveyed through the variety of paintings, drawings and photographic imagery on display.
“The gallery is the perfect place to visit this summer, with this being just one of a number of exhibitions and events taking place. I hope as many people as possible visit.”
Jeffrey Spedding work includes paintings and drawings which reflect an interest in musical composition, twentieth century composers, such as Lady Panufnik's husband - the famous Polish composer Sir Andrzej Panufnik - and more personal portraits, sea and landscapes.
Camilla Jessel Panufnik is the granddaughter of Rt. Hon. Mrs Nellie Ionides, who bequeathed Orleans House Gallery, grounds and over 450 pictures to the borough on her death in 1962. Lady Panufnik shares her grandmother's love of nature and has actively supported the gallery since it opened in 1972. She has previously exhibited at Orleans House Gallery as part of group exhibitions, including Culture Vultures and Images of the Divine in 2007. Spedding exhibited in the well-received Making Music exhibition in 2005.
The Stables Gallery is open from Tuesday-Saturday 1-5.30pm, Sunday 2-5.30pm. Admission is free. The exhibition continues until 21 June 2009.
