Have your say on the re-development of the Avenue Centre

Residents are being encouraged to have their say on new plans for the Avenue Centre site in Hampton Wick, when pre-planning consultation begins next week.

The plans are for a new community centre for the whole community, which will be accessible to all, together with a mix of private and affordable housing.

Two drop-in sessions are being held at Bullen Hall, next door to Hampton Wick Library, on Friday 19 June, from 6-8pm and Tuesday 23 June, 9-11am. Council officers and the architects will be present to answer any questions.

The designs will also be on display in Hampton Wick Library from June 18-26.

Cllr Denise Carr, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services on Richmond Council, said:

“The redevelopment of this site is of great interest to the local community, particularly people with learning disabilities and their families, for whom it has a special history.

“The new community centre will offer a major resource and we’re keen to hear what people think.”

The Library is open Tuesdays 10am-1pm and 2-6pm, Wednesdays 2-6pm, Friday 2-6pm and Saturday 10-1am and 2-5pm.

The User Forum for People with Learning Disabilities and the Avenue Centre Design Group have been consulted during the drafting process.
