Budding artists - from novice to professionals - have the chance to display their work to the public, when Richmond Council’s Arts Service hosts its annual open exhibition later this year at the Riverside Gallery in Richmond.
Reflecting the current recession, the exhibition at the gallery, in the Old Town Hall, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond will showcase high quality affordable art, with all works costing £100 or less.
Advanced warning is being given to encourage more people than ever to submit their prints, photos, paintings and sculptures, ahead of the October deadline, before the exhibition opens in December.
Cllr Liz Jaeger, Cabinet Member for Youth, Culture and Leisure on Richmond Council, said: “This is a fantastic chance to get your artwork displayed to the public, something that must be hugely rewarding, regardless of whether you are a professional artist or somebody who just does it as a hobby.
“Our arts service is one of the best in the country, something that was recognised when we were shortlisted for this year’s Art Fund Prize, and part of this success is the role local people have in supporting the huge range of exhibitions and courses we offer. I encourage anybody who is interested to get in touch.”
Artists can submit up to five original works either via A4 sized photographic prints, colour printouts or high-resolution jpegs submitted on CD to M.DeNovellis@richmond.gov.uk or to Orleans House Gallery, Riverside, Twickenham, TW1 3DJ.
