Summer of larks in borough parks

The borough’s annual festival of outdoor children’s theatre, set in the best of the borough’s parks and public gardens, gets underway later this month.

Larks in the Parks kicks off with The Magic Circus - an afternoon of acrobats and lion tamers - on Tuesday 28 July at York House Gardens.

A further nine performances will follow over the next month – featuring a time travelling gnome, an outing for your own bear and fairy tales galore.

A variety of venues will be hosting the acts, including Kew and Barnes Green and the newly opened Terrace Gardens in Richmond.

Cabinet Member for Youth, Culture and Leisure at Richmond Council, said:

“Larks in the Parks is among the highlights of our summer programme of events. It has been become increasingly popular over the past few years and this year promises to be better than ever.

“There is variety of performances planned, all offering something different. It is also a great chance to enjoy some of the boroughs parks and public spaces, which are a perfect place to spend a summer’s day.”

“Our parks are probably the best in the country – this is certainly what our residents say. I hope as many as possible will take advantage of these events to make the most of what the best of our open spaces have to offer.”
