A unique exhibition of photographs from towns and cities around the world named Richmond, has gone on display in the Riverside Gallery.
Images from South Africa, Australia and Canada as well as a ghost town in America are among those making up the exhibition. They illustrate some of the similarities and stark contrasts in life and landscapes around the world.
The Mayor, Cllr Celia Hodges, who opened the exhibition, said:
“This is a fantastic collection of photographs and quite intriguing when you look at some of the similarities and connections the various Richmonds share. Our arts service has worked extremely hard to put this exhibition together, researching and sourcing photos from around the world. I hope as many people as possible take the chance to visit the display, I can promise you it is well worth it.”
Across the world, some 80 villages, towns, cities and suburbs share the name of Richmond.
The exhibition is free and runs at the Riverside Gallery in Richmond until 5 September. It is sponsored by London's Arcadia: The Thames Landscape Strategy in Action.
The Gallery is open Monday, Thursday and Friday 10am-6pm, Tuesday 10am-5pm, Wednesday 10am-8pm and Saturday 10am-5pm.
