Mayor to celebrate Scots' history

Richmond upon Thames will become a little corner of Scotland later this month, when the Mayor Cllr Clare Head hosts a Burns supper in memory of the famous poet.

A Haggis will be paraded around the Clarendon Hall at the start of the evening and later poems will be read and a piper will perform traditional Scottish music. There will also be chance for diners to take part in Scottish country dancing. All guests are invited to wear tartan gentlemen may wish to wear kilts.

For the meal, Haggis, neeps and tatties will be served with a dram of Grant’s Whisky and there will be traditional Scottish Cranachan for dessert.

The supper is being held to raise money for the Mayor’s Charity, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau. It takes place on 27 January from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £25 and can be purchased from the Mayor’s Office by calling 020 8891 7123 or by emailing mayors.office@richmond.gov.uk
