An exhibition celebrating the different ways wood has been used to create beautiful and inspiring artworks throughout history and into the modern day is currently running at the Riverside Gallery in Richmond.
This unique exhibition brings together a wide range of artworks created from new, seasoned and recycled wood including furniture, carvings, whittled objects, boxes, clocks and carvings. The exhibition also showcases sculptures created through the use of fire in a process called pyrography.
In addition to artists from all over the UK, sculptures and works from several local artists including Roy Wright, Paul Baden, Silas Birtwistle, Frank Armour, Andrea Wright and Mali will be on show.
Cllr Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council Cabinet Member for Community, Business and Culture, said:
“Working with wood is one of the oldest native crafts and this exhibition demonstrates the immense skill, creativity, imagination and innovation required to create art from wood.”
“I encourage residents to pay this exhibition a visit and see for themselves the many beautiful items on display.”
Good Wood: Wood Works runs until 7th April 2012 and is free. For more information, contact Mark De Novellis at m.denovellis@richmond.gov.uk or go to our art page here.
