Creative residents in the borough have the opportunity to showcase their work as part of this year’s ARThouse festival in June, when local artists are invited to open their homes and studios to the community.
Over two weekends (Friday 22 June - Sunday 1 July), artists can exhibit their work in their own environment, which may be their home, studio or an alternative space.
Last year more than 150 artists and students displayed their creations and projects in homes, studios, community centres and schools. Richmond Council is hoping this year’s festival will be even more successful.
Cllr Pamela Fleming, Strategic Cabinet Member for Communities, Business and Culture on Richmond Council, said: “This is a fabulous opportunity for people to take part in a borough-wide exhibition. The festival allows visitors to learn about the relationship between the artist and their art and experience the same environment and space in which the work is created.
“With free admission to all, art enthusiasts are offered the chance to meet some of the area’s finest creative people, pick up advice and even buy original pieces. I hope as many people as possible find the time to experience many of the fine artists we have in the borough.”
Applications to be part of this open studios event are now open and will close on Monday 20th February. Festival brochures will be available in May and will detail all the open studio venues local to you and their opening times. For more information, go to: www.richmond.gov.uk/arthouse_open_studios
