Last chance to apply for the ARThouse festival

Creative residents in the borough who are keen to showcase their work as part of this year’s ARThouse festival have until Monday 20th February to submit their application.

Over two weekends (Friday 22 June – Sunday 1 July), artists can exhibit their work in their own environment, which may be their home, studio or an alternative space. Members of the public are invited to visit the exhibitions free of charge, meet the artists and purchase work.

Last year more than 150 artists and students displayed their creations and projects in homes, studios, community centres and schools. The festival attracts a wide range of visitors from both within and outside the borough and Richmond Council is hoping this year’s festival will be even more successful.

Cllr Pamela Fleming, Strategic Cabinet Member for Communities, Business and Culture on Richmond Council, said: “This is a fabulous opportunity for people to take part in a borough-wide exhibition. The festival allows visitors to learn about the relationship between the artist and their art and experience the same surroundings and ambience in which the work is created.

“I urge local artists to apply and share their artwork and creative space with residents. There are many fine artists in this borough and I looked forward to seeing their work in a space that is unique and inspiring to them”.

Applications to be part of this open studios event close on Monday 20th February. Festival brochures will be available in May and will detail all the open studio venues local to you and their opening times. For more information, go to: ArtHouse open studios.
