You will be asked to fill in an application form
(pdf, 26KB) which should be faxed or emailed to filmrichmond with your public liability insurance. You also have the option of completing an application form online.
filmrichmond will then contact (where necessary) council departments, friends groups, ward councillors and the police and will let you know as soon as possible if the filming can go ahead.
Once your filming has been agreed, a fee negotiated, terms confirmed and your risk assessment received you will be emailed a location agreement which you will need to sign and fax or email back.
We will invoice you for any fees once filming has been completed.
Fees
Our fees vary and are dependent on a number of factors - length of shoot, level of disruption involved, property being used etc. See our 2011/12 charges
(pdf, 18KB).
All site visits will be charged at £82.
Occasionally, if a project requires a lot of additional work, then an additional administration fee may be charged. This will be discussed with you in advance.
We do not charge for ‘on-street’ filming however with effect from 1 April 2011, the following admin charges will be introduced to cover time spent checking application forms, insurance documents, risk assessments, liaising with highways, street scene officers, ward councillors and any relevant residents associations where necessary.
Once necessary checks have been carried out a Notice of No Objection will be issued.
Charges are based on crew size and are per day, not per hour.
- Crew of 1-6: £50 per day
- Crew of 7-20: £75 per day
- Crew of 21+: £100 per day
- Crew of 30+: On application
Insurance
Generally we require productions to have public liability insurance in place to the value of at least £5,000,000 (five million pounds). This may be reduced depending on the shoot.
Risk assessments
Risk assessment should be completed for all shoots and should be faxed through to the office in advance of filming.
