Democratic Services

Democratic Services are responsible for all the meetings via which the authority conducts its business, from full Council, through the monthly Cabinet meetings, the 5 Overview and Scrutiny Committees and the Standards Committee to the fortnightly Planning Committee, as well as quasi-judicial bodies such as Education Appeals Panels. We also cover the Area Consultation Meetings which are held locally twice a year (during Spring and Autumn).

We also provide a Members’ Support function. This includes running the Mayor's Office and organising civic and ceremonial events.

Democratic Services also provide a secretariat service to the RFU Council and Joint Commissioning Boards (for services provided by the NHS and Social Services).
