Have your say on a Council consultation which proposes to extend a community parking zone (CPZ) in St Margarets.
In September 2015, the St Margarets Riverside Parking Scheme was implemented and the existing St Margarets North zone was extended.
Since then, a number of requests and petitions have been submitted to the Council, requesting that the existing CPZ be extended to cover Northcote Road, Newry Road, Haliburton Road, Heron Road, Talbot Road, Kilmorey Gardens and Kilmorey Road.
The concerns from residents have been made due to daytime commuter traffic and non-residential parking that can result in a lack of available parking spaces for the community.
The purpose of the consultation is to confirm whether there is over 50% support for the proposed extensions from households in the consultation area. The closing date for the consultation has been extended to Friday 3 February 2017 to allow a little more time for responses to be sent in following the Christmas Break.
Richmond Council Cabinet Member for Highways, Cllr Peter Buckwell, said:
“Generally the Council expects positive support from over 50 per cent of households before implementing a new CPZ or extending an existing CPZ. Your views are therefore vital to shaping the Council's final decision and it is important that as many people as possible have their say.
“There are different underlying causes for the parking problems across the area and I will be carefully evaluating the results of this consultation. If there is sufficient positive support the Council will proceed to advertise (traffic management orders) formally proposing extension(s) to the zone”
For more information see the consultation.
