Voluntary Sector Strategic Partnership (VSSP)

The first meeting of the Voluntary Sector Strategic Partnership (VSSP) was held on 27 August at Richmond Council for Voluntary Service (RCVS) offices.

Following a period of consultation the meeting approved the initial framework for membership and representation.

It was agreed that up to 20 representatives from the primary areas of interest should form the VSSP’s Executive Committee.

The title of the group was agreed to reflect its mission of playing a key role in the Local Strategic Partnership. The VSSP will meet three times a year as a committee and once a year to include a wider range of colleagues from within the sector. An important aim for the VSSP is to ensure that the voluntary sector’s views have an influence on planning and policy decisions.

Richmond Council for Voluntary Service (RCVS) will manage the VSSP’s main structure and processes, with responsibility for considering the views of the wider sector shared by each individual strategic lead.

This is an exciting and important development for the voluntary sector and we are optimistic that cross-sector relationships will be further enhanced as the VSSP takes forward its remit. We will continue to update you as we progress this work and plan to enhance communication between the VSSP and the wider sector.
