Richmond upon Thames Race Equality Partnership

Aims and objectives

The aim of the partnership is to promote race equality and good race relations in  the borough through sharing of good practice,  information and joint initiatives.  

Objectives

  • To promote race equality and good race relations by  developing  a borough wide multi agency approach: a shared understanding and approach to areas of work and achievement of outcomes.
  • To maintain a regular dialogue with the Council’s Strategic Equalities Executive Board,  Community Planning Partnership Forum,  Community Safety Partnership and other key partnerships and steering groups.
  • To share good practices and developments of race equality objectives and outcomes achieved in Race Equality Schemes and  Service Plans.
  • To achieve a consistent approach to the tackling,  prevention and monitoring of racist incidents.
  • To develop a borough wide approach to promoting race equality, valuing diversity and community cohesion.
  • To share Annual Equality monitoring  analysis and review reports.
  • To undertake joint needs analysis and mapping of the needs of BME communities in the borough, access to services and the provision of appropriate services.
  • To undertake shared events around,  for example,  consultation and training on race equality issues.
  • To develop and promote positive images of race equality and valuing diversity as part of partner communication strategies/events
  • To develop and promote joint borough wide celebration of diversity event

The Partnership has agreed an action plan(pdf, 36KB) for the year which expands the Partnership's objectives.
