Community Development structure

Community Development is the process of local communities working together to identify their needs, to influence change and make decisions to improve the quality of life in their area.  

This diagram shows the structure of the Community Development work carried out in the 5 areas.

  • Local Strategic Partnership Champions (LSP Champions). An officer from an LSP partner organisation who has been identified to champion an individual area.
  • Community Development Coordinator. Responsibility of overseeing the 5 areas, to monitor strategies and plans and to share good practice.
  • Community Development Workers (CDWs). An officer in each of the 5 areas with the responsibility of interacting with the local community and coordinating and organising local projects.
  • Extended Schools Coordinators (ESCOs). One in each of the 5 areas. Providing a range of services in and around schools.

CDW and ESCO Project Group

The CDW and ESCO Project Group meet approximately 6 times a year with the aim of coordinating work in the 5 areas, exchanging information and focus work.

Community Development (CD) Network

The CD Network meet approximately 3 times a year to engage and inform people working directly in the 5 areas in decision making and focus work.
