Citizenship ceremonies
The citizenship ceremony is the final stage in the process of becoming a British Citizen.
Every successful applicant over the age of eighteen is expected to attend a ceremony and to take the Oath/Affirmation of Allegiance to Her Majesty the Queen, and the Pledge of Loyalty to the United Kingdom.
Once an applicant has received written confirmation from the Home office that their citizenship has been approved, they are requested to contact the Register Office to arrange a date for their ceremony, within three months.
Richmond Register Office holds group citizenship ceremonies on a fortnightly basis on Wednesday afternoons, with the Mayor or Deputy Mayor in attendance, to welcome new citizens and their guests to the Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
For those who would prefer an individual ceremony, these can be arranged for a fee of £50.00.
