A Columbarium unit allows up to two interments of cremated remains, but a specific size of urn must be used, which is purchased from the cemetery office.
You may purchase the memorial from a memorial mason of your choice. The memorial plaque is made of red polished granite. You may use the entire face of the memorial for the inscription, if a second burial takes place, a new plaque may be required. Your chosen Mason will advise you as to how long it will take for the memorial to be made. The burial cannot take place until the memorial lid is ready, and the cemetery office will let you know so that you can book a date and time for the interment to take place. On the day of burial, a member of the cemeteries staff will assist in placing the cremated remains in the chosen unit and will ensure that the unit is sealed with the plaque lid.
You can obtain a plan to indicate the units available from the cemeteries office. (There are no vacant units available in the wall.)
We provide flower containers in certain areas that are for use by all. (No other flower vases, pot plants or memorialisation are permitted.) The responsibility of maintaining the memorial is that of the owner. However, as the memorial is made from polished granite, little maintenance is required. To keep the memorial clean, you will just need to wash it occasionally with clean water.
You can download the application form for burial in a new grave
(pdf, 47KB), complete it and send it to the cemetery office. We will hold the form until a mutually convenient date and time can be arranged. For a second burial in an existing unit, the burial in an existing grave
(pdf, 132KB) form should be completed.
