The Natural Burial Area

The Natural Burial Area provides a grave space which will encourage wildlife, native flowers and trees. The area is located in East Sheen cemetery near the boundary adjoining Sheen common. The section is between existing older style traditional graves and the tree lined boundary to East Sheen common.

There are certain regulations that apply to the Natural Burial Area, please ensure you and your family understand these before choosing this option:

  • Metal caskets are not permitted in this area.
  • Cremated remains can be buried either in wooden caskets, cardboard containers or loose.
  • To maintain this area for all bereaved families who choose this section, no form of individual memorial, flowers or any other item may be placed here. Trees, shrubs, bulbs etc., will be selected and planted by the cemeteries staff.

We would advise you to make an appointment with the Cemetery Office to be shown the Natural Burial Area and discuss the options available.
