RISE to Shine
In 2012 the Sports Development Team started a new RISE project - RISE to Shine. This is a project to get young people, who live or go to school in the borough, involved in the London Youth Games. Every year over 50,000 young people from the 33 London boroughs compete against each other in over 30 different sports. There are disability sports included in the competition and we are looking for athletes to compete for Team Richmond. You can find more details about the ongoing RISE to Shine opportunities on our Disability and inclusive activities page.
Sports Camps 2012
The RISE Summer Sports Camp took place at Clarendon School 20 - 24 August 2012. The participants took part in a range of different sports activities including gymnastics, trampolining, wheelchair basketball and cycling. In order to celebrate 5 days to go until the Paralympics, on the last day they took part in a team competition with a range of Paralympic Sports.
