Advanced award

To qualify for an advanced award your business needs to achieve the following and be able to provide supporting evidence:

Undertaken a free specialist review and implemented recommendations to reduce your environment impacts across your business’ most significant areas.
Demonstrate quatifiable improvements across two of your most significant impacts. Examples include the following:
- Energy - Energy saving shown on bill/meter.
- Waste - Quantity of recycled waste per month.
- Water - Water saving shown on bill/meter.
- Transport - Number of staff cycling to work.
- Purchasing - Amount of sustainable products purchased instead of non-sustainable items.
If these examples are not relevant to your business then please provide imformation on initiatives that you have implemented.
Show clear commitment to the environment through one or more of the following: an environmental policy, a purchasing policy, a waste management policy, a travel plan, an energy policy, and/or evidence of environmental criteria in staff training or job descriptions (NB. template policies can be found on our Tips and fact sheets page).
Have gained staff/management commitment to improving your environmental performance.
Visibility/awareness of commitment either through visible policy documentation, PR and/or physical evidence which is obvious to staff, visitors, customers and/or passers-by. Examples include labelled recycling bins and notices to raise awareness of correct procedures such as hazardous materials handling or switching off lights and equipment when not in use.
