Awards
Go Green Richmond upon Thames recognises good practice through a tiered accreditation scheme. Through achieving the awards your business will benefit from a range of free services and advice to reduce your environmental impact.
At each level of award you will receive a certificate and window sticker to display your credentials. You will also be added to the list of successfully accredited businesses on our website and benefit from publicity opportunities. Businesses that display their leaf awards can show their customers, staff and stakeholders that they are taking responsibility for their environmental impacts and taking steps towards going green. It is quick and simple to apply for an award and there is support at each step to help your business make environmental improvements.
Accreditation is achieved for environmental improvements at your business’ site. If you have several sites across Richmond you can apply for an award for each site.
Accredited Businesses
Pledge
To get started you can make a pledge to improve your business’ environmental performance. Once you have made a pledge you will receive information and support to make it easy to achieve.
Merit
At the first level you will receive an initial environmental review to provide tailored advice on completing simple actions required for this first level of accreditation. This free review will identify the scope of your business’ impacts on the environment and will offer immediate, cost effective wins. The merit award application form is quick to complete and requires you to have implemented basic actions to reduce your consumption of energy, water and waste. You are encouraged to monitor your utility and waste use to enable you to measure savings.
Advanced
You can benefit from a specialist review on energy, waste, water, travel or procurement to reduce the significant impacts of your business. By implementing the recommendations and reducing the impacts across at least two areas you will be able to apply for an advanced award.
Exceptional
Businesses that show a real commitment to the environment across all of your activities through an environmental management system (EMS) will qualify for an exceptional award.
Support and training can be provided to help you work towards a formally recognised EMS, such as ISO14001 or BS8555, to reduce the risks of environmental pollution, ensure legal compliance, and promote the reduction of environmental impacts through your business’ policies and procedures. BS8555 is designed for small to medium sized businesses and we can provide support at each step to help your business develop an EMS.
