Pupil Eco Conference 2009

On 1 May 2009, Hampton Hill Junior School welcomed pupils from nearly 40 primary schools to the pioneering Richmond upon Thames Pupil Eco Conference. Each participating school sent two delegates to the event, the first of its kind in the borough, to share ideas about what they can do at school and at home to look after the environment.

Pupils took part in a drama workshop to find out more about the effects of climate change, showed their creativity by making recycled sock monsters and finished off with a waste-free lunch. It was a great chance for pupils to meet green teams from other schools and everyone is looking forward to next year's Eco Conference!

Eco Ambassador Conference 2010

On the morning of 15 June, representatives from primary schools across the Borough gathered at Hampton Hill Junior School for the second pupils Eco Ambassador’s conference. This year saw the return of the ‘Big Foot’ theatre company who did their fantastic ‘Cool It’ production, imagining what life might be like if Britain is severely affected by global warming. After a quick break, the pupils took part in two workshops; one encouraged them to think about what they could do to prevent the bad affects of climate change. The other, was an interactive recycling mat game in which they had to work in teams to recycle various items quickly and responsibly. The day was a great chance for children to meet like-minded, enthusiastic, environmentally aware pupils from other schools and share some great ideas. It was topped off by a healthy lunch and some goody bags for every participant.
