Secondary School Sustainability Days
Year 8 and 9 pupils took a break from their normal timetable to take part in special Sustainability Days organised by Richmond Environment Network and Richmond Council’s Sustainability Unit and Recycling team. Curriculum links included Geography, Citizenship, Science and work related learning.
The events helped pupils learn more about environmental issues through a series of interactive workshops and activities. Students looked at the link between energy use and climate change, environmental stories in the media and what happens to our waste, as well as building and racing model solar cars.
The Sustainability Days included sessions on environmental careers, which were especially popular, with speakers from Solar Century, Kew Gardens, Carillion, Richmond Environment Network and Richmond Council sharing their expertise and experience on working in the environmental field.
