Recycle
All schools in the borough can recycle a wide range of materials through the Council’s weekly recycling collection service:
Mixed paper, card and cartons
- Paper, magazines, newspapers
- Flattened cardboard
- Phone directories
- Junk mail, envelopes, shredded paper
- Food and drink cartons (e.g. Tetra Pak™)
Mixed containers
- Glass bottles and jars
- Food and drink cans
- Plastic bottles
- Aerosols
- Foil
- Other mixed plastic containers (e.g. food trays, yoghurt pots, margarine and ice cream tubs, etc)
Food waste recycling
This service is currently at full capacity but we are looking at expanding this service in the new year 2012. If you are interested in joining this scheme, please contact wasteandrecycling@richmond.gov.uk or call 08456 122 660.
External recycling services
Battery recycling
You can recycle batteries through a battery compliance scheme. Contact one of the registered schemes to see if they can provide you with collection containers for your school. The Environment Agency website has a list of the schemes.

Townmead
You can recycle a wide range of materials at Townmead Road Re-use and Recycling Centre including books, energy saving lightbulbs and mobile phones.
