Transport
Road transport accounts for around a quarter of the carbon dioxide emissions in the UK, most of which comes from the use of cars. There are different ways you can reduce your use of fossil fuels (such as petrol or diesel), your impact on the climate and improve air quality in towns and cities.
What can I do?
Walking, cycling and public transport
One of the best ways to reduce CO2 emissions is to leave the car at home, and use an alternate means of transport. Walking, cycling or using public transport may also be a quicker, more convenient, healthy and cost-effective way to complete your journey.
Richmond now has its very own local journey planner. You can find maps and travel information showing how to get around the borough on foot, bike and by public transport. See the Smarter Travel website for more information.
Green driving
If you do have to drive you can make greener choices through smarter driving, buying a fuel efficient car, running your car on a greener fuel or by joining a car club.
