Fitness in parks
A new Olympic themed outdoor fitness facility has been installed at Old Deer Park, Richmond. The Adizone will further increase the opportunities for residents to lead an active and healthy lifestyle whilst the Adidas reputation will engage young people and provide a place for them to be a part of the Olympic movement in Richmond.
The equipment consists of:
- Pull up
- Assisted pull up
- Cross trainer
- Mini cross trainer
- Leg press
- The bench
- Mini recumbent bike
- Shoulder press
- Lat pull down
- Recumbent bike
- Ski machine
Fresh air fitness
The equipment aims to encourage borough residents to exercise and socialise whilst outdoors in parks. The project has particular emphasis on providing facilities in parks for young people.

Parks and open spaces are important places for young people to meet and socialise through exercise activities such as football and basketball. This equipment is being trialled and is intended to compliment existing facilities; such as a hard standing Kick About at Heathfield Recreation Ground and a BMX track at Hampton Common.
Parents and adults can also use this equiptment whilst their children are in the playground or as part of their exercise routine or dog walking circuit.
Health and safety guidelines for the equipment
Please read these instructions before beginning your work.
- An adult must adequately supervise children. This is not play equipment
- If you are in any doubt about your health or level of physical fitness, please consult a doctor or fitness professional before using this equipment.
- Read the instructions on each piece of equipment first.
- Do not use any equipment if it appears damaged, or is malfunctioning. Please report to the Council on 08456 122660 or email email@example.com.
- Aim to do at least 20 minutes of medium to high intensity exercise overall, spending approx two minutes on each piece of equipment.
- Begin your exercise routine with a warm up session. Start slowly and built up intensity gradually.
- Stand clear of all equipment when in use by someone else.
- Be courteous, allow others to use the equipment as soon as you have finished your session.
- Stop if you feel faint or dizzy. Do not use under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- After your session allow 5-10 minutes to stretch off and cool down. Stretch each muscle group for 15-20 seconds.
- Users of this equipment do so at their own risk. Richmond upon Thames Borough Council do not accept any liability for loss or injury caused by the use of this equipment.

A stimulating unit designed for both young and old to test their strength and exercise their bodies. The unit comprises a rowing machine, twisting, bench lift, push-up, pull-up and step-up aids.
There are two permanent FitPoints in the borough:
- Kneller Gardens, Meadway, Twickenham
- Hatherop Park, Broad Lane, Hampton

Outdoor Fitness Equipment in Ham
The Outdoor Fitness Equipment has been installed on Ham Village Green.
The equipment consists of a:
- Body Twist,
- Cross Rider,
- Chest Press,
- Double Air Walker,
- Sit Up Benches,
- Rowing Machine
- and Skier.
The Sport Point is a collection of outdoor exercise equipment and has been designed for youth, adult and senior workouts.
The nine-piece gym includes a:
- bench press,
- pectoral press,
- leg press,
- abdominal curl bench
- and a pull up bar.
A permanent Sport Point has been installed in Castlenau Recreation Ground.
