Short stay away from home for the person you care for

A short break away from home can often be arranged on a temporary basis. This is sometimes known as respite care and it can provide a welcome change for the person being cared for as well as giving the carer a much needed break.

  • Residential homesA residential home is a place where a number of people live together, looked after by care staff that are available 24 hours a day.
  • Nursing homesA nursing home is a place where a number of people who need nursing care because of either illness or disability live together, looked after by trained nursing staff.
  • Short breaks for people with learning disabilitiesThere are properties in the Richmond area with facilities to enable people with a learning disability to enjoy a short break.
  • Shared Lives SchemeShort or long term adult placements are available for people with learning disabilities living in the Richmond area.
