Private sector landlord information exchange
The Council aims to support providers of good quality housing and meet local housing needs. To help achieve this we provide information and advice to individuals and organisations who contribute to the private rented sector.
We hold a database of landlords, managing agents, surveyors and others, which is used to distribute advice and information, as well as consult on important issues.
If you would like to be included in the database, please send an email to residentialeh@richmond.gov.uk with your contact details. It would help us if the subject of the email is "private sector database". If your details change, please let us know.
From time to time the Council will facilitate meetings for private landlords, managing agents and others. Meetings will usually be called to advise about an issue of importance such as a change in legislation, policy or practices. We will use our database to invite individuals and organisations to attend.
Landlord Forum
The Council provides meeting rooms for quarterly landlord forums. The forums are hosted by the National Landlords Association
Dates for meetings in 2013 are as follows and all landlords are welcome:
- 14 November 2013 at 6.30pm in the Terrace Room York House

Other organisations
The Council works with a range of partners to provide additional support to private landlords and managing agents.
Rent Officers (Valuation Office Agency)
Rent Officers deliver statutory services for Local Authorities, landlords and tenants. The main functions are to determine and publish Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates, provide Housing Benefit determinations to Local Authorities and provide "Fair Rent" registrations.
London Landlord Accreditation Scheme
The Council recommends the Landlord Accreditation Scheme to all landlords and managing agents.
There are many benefits to becoming accredited as you will:
- learn about your rights and responsibilities under legislation
- learn about key issues of property management and managing a tenancy
- receive a comprehensive reference manual
- have access to the latest, up-to-date information via their website, newsletters and future development courses
Training programmes organised through the scheme are available throughout London with two being held annually in Twickenham. You can find the training dates here.
