Before you become a governor

It is important that appropriate checks are made on anybody who will be working in a school to prevent unsuitable people from gaining access to children.

Prospective governors in the Richmond borough are required to sign a declaration form(pdf, 81KB) to state they are not disqualified from being a governor and their names will be checked against the List 99 register.

Some schools also ask that their governors undergo an enhanced CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check.
