Successful RISE event

Over 60 people attended a day of inclusive sports and fitness activities at Shene Sports and Fitness Centre on Saturday (19 May).

The event, which is in it’s fourth year, is part of the Council’s RISE (Richmond upon Thames Inclusive Sports and Exercise) initiative, highlighting the range of inclusive and disability-specific sports and activities which are locally available. Attendees took part in wheelchair basketball, dance, Kurling, golf, football and many other great activities.

Cllr Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council’s Strategic Cabinet Member for Communities, Business and Culture, said:

“It’s less than 100 days until the Paralympics and our residents were certainly getting into the spirit at this wonderful sporting event. RISE offers a great opportunity for everyone to take part in sport, no matter what their ability.”

More information about RISE activities, events, and inclusive sports and exercises in the borough can be found on our RISE page.
