Who qualifies for a resident burial fee?

  • The deceased must have been a permanent resident of the London Borough of Richmond at the date of death. You will need to produce a copy of a current Council Tax bill.
  • The deceased is the Owner of the Exclusive Right of Burial and was resident in the Borough at the time of purchase.
  • The deceased was resident within one year of the date of death and was moved to a residential care home out of the Borough, as there was no place available for residential care in the Borough. This must be confirmed in writing by Social Services.

If any of the above applies, a current Council Tax bill or current Electoral Roll papers must be submitted with the burial application form. If you are not sure if a resident fee applies, please contact the Cemetery Office, as the staff will be happy to help you. Burial fees are usually paid to us by your Funeral Director. Payments made direct to us can be in cash in person at the Cemetery Office, by cheque made payable to London Borough of Richmond upon Thames or by credit card.
