Here you can find answers to frequently asked questions about ePetitions, including commonly encountered problems (including with registration and signing) and their solutions. Q) Do you have a guide to help me sign ePetitions?
A) Yes. See “How to sign an ePetition”.
Q) I am entering my username and password but it won’t let me sign in?
A) You will need to verify your account using a link in an e-mail that was sent to you from democratic.services@richmond.gov.uk or petitions@richmond.gov.uk. You might need to retrieve this from your SPAM/junk e-mail folder. If you do not know where this is located, contact your e-mail provider. Every e-mail account will have some sort of junk mail filter.
Q) It won’t accept my password when I am registering?
A) Your password needs to be more than 8 characters long, with at least one numerical digit.
Q) My family shares the same e-mail address, but we want to sign an ePetition individually?
A) You can have one ePetition account per e-mail address. If your family members want to sign individually, they will need to do so with different e-mail addresses.
Q) My activation e-mail hasn’t arrived?
A) Activation e-mails usually arrive within a couple of minutes, Check your SPAM/junk e-mail filter. If you cannot see the e-mail, set the filter to allow e-mails from democratic.services@richmond.gov.uk and petitions@richmond.gov.uk. Try signing into ePetitions again and it will send another activation e-mail.
Q) I have activated my account, but it still won’t let me sign in?
A) Click on “Forgotten your password?” and enter your e-mail address. You will then be sent information on how to reset your password.
Q) Is there a minimum age for people to use ePetitions?
A) Anyone, regardless of their age, may sign an ePetition as long as they live, work or study in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. See information on eligibility for ePetitions.
Q) Why is the signature count going down?
A) The Council reserves the right to delete signatures that are invalid. See information on eligibility for ePetitions.
