MATTERS ARISING FROM PREVIOUS MEETING

(a1)      Issue regarding Pizza Bikes (minute 57 Q&A)

It seems the practice is quite common and some EHOs have taken issue with businesses over it. It is something we would discourage, especially in food rooms (sometimes they store them in the public area of the shop), but as long as there are proper controls in place (ie everything is covered and securely stored before the bike is put inside the premises) then the risk of contamination of the food is very low. The premises involved are often small businesses with limited resources, so putting the bikes inside at the end of the day is a practical way of protecting their assets. Certainly no one felt it worthy of any formal enforcement action unless it was very carelessly done along with many other failings.

(a2)      Publicity to Encourage People to Lock Their Cars (minute 57 Q&A)

            (b)       Police Estates (minute 59 (a))

            (c)        Constitution/Protocol for PLGs (minute 59 (b))

            (d)       Met Royal Parks Operational Command Unit (minute 60)

It is accepted that some of the 30mph signs in the Park and repeater signs in Chestnut Avenue are fading.  However, there is reluctance to replace the signs pending parliamentary approval on the decision to reduce the speed limit to 20mph, which should be implemented later in the year

(e1)     Response from British Transport Police (minute 68)

A representative will be attending the May meeting

(e2)     Graffiti Clear up (minute 68)

An EVA has been undertaken and submitted for a Community Payback request made for the alleyway alongside the BR railway, which has been agreed and the work will be undertaken soon

(f)        Signs Regarding Cycling on Pavements in Teddington (minute 69 (a))

(d)               Issues/Presentations for Future CPP meetings:

  • OPTION 1 – DRUGS: We would ask one of the drug treatment agencies providing treatment in Camden to highlight their work, such as needles exchanges. We would also ask the police to discuss enforcement.
  • OPTION 2 –HATE CRIME: This is a large area covering domestic violence, race and homophobic crime. To give this subject justice we would need to focus on just one of these areas.
  • OPTION 3 –REASONABLE ROAD USE: One of the biggest concerns from residents during the focus groups was cycling on pavements. Although they were not anti cyclist, they were concerned about their own personal safety. People also raised concerns about the flouting of traffic
  • OPTION 4 – Mental Health Offenders/Victims – Inspector Tony Aubrey
