PROPOSAL FOR CHANGE OF TWO WARD NAMES: OUTCOME OF PUBLIC CONSULTATION, FOR DECISION BY THE COUNCIL pdf icon PDF 91 KB

This report forms the matter for consideration at this meeting.  Section 59 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 states that with regard to a change of name of electoral area a resolution must be passed at a meeting which is specially convened for the purpose of deciding the resolution.

The proposals to change the name of Hampton Wick and Fullwell and Hampton Hill Wards were examined. 

 

Eachproposal was put to the vote and the results were as follows,

 

Hampton Wick Ward to “Hampton Wick and South Teddington

Present:          43

For:                  4

Against:           23

Abstentions:    16

 

As the proposal was not passed by a majority of at least two-thirds of members present and voting at the meeting, it FELL.

 

Fulwell and Hampton Hill Ward to “Hampton Hill and North West Teddington

Present:          43

The proposal was put to the vote and rejected unanimously.

 

As the proposal was not passed by a majority of at least two-thirds of members present and voting at the meeting, it FELL.

 

RESOLVED:

 

1.      That the proposal to change the name of Hampton Wick Ward to “Hampton Wick and South Teddington be rejected and that the ward name remain as Hampton Wick.

 

2.      That the proposal to change the name of Fulwell and Hampton Hill Ward to “Hampton Hill and North West Teddington be rejected and that the ward name remain as Fulwell and Hampton Hill.
