Councillor suspended for one month

Councillor Marc Cranfield-Adams has been suspended from Richmond Council for a month following two rulings against him by the Council’s Standards Hearings sub committee.

A member of the Council’s staff made a complaint against Mr Cranfield-Adams, alleging he had breached four sections of the Members’ Code of Conduct.

The sub committee found he had breached two sections of the code by failing to treat others with respect and by bullying another person.

He was found not to have breached the code in two further sections – disclosing confidential information and bringing the office of councillor into disrepute.

Councillor Cranfield-Adams will be suspended from the Council for a month, starting on Monday 8 February. He will not be allowed to attend meetings and vote, or act as a councillor in any other way, during that time.

The decision was taken after evidence, witness statements, and independent legal advice, were considered. Cllr Cranfield-Adams has a right of appeal to the Local Government Standards in England tribunal.
