20MPH ZONE – QUEENS ROAD, TEDDINGTON pdf icon PDF 76 KB

This report sets out proposed measures to reduce traffic speeds and create a 20mph limit along Queens Road, Coleshill Road and a section of Park Road Teddington. A closure of Coleshill Road, a 7.5tonne weight restriction along Queens Road and the relocation of a pedestrian refuge on Park Road are also investigated.

Report of the Interim Head of Transport and Highways attached.

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member for Traffic, Transport and Parking approved:

1)         The implementation of the proposed traffic calming features and associated 20mph limit along Queens Road, Coleshill Road (gated closure only) and Park Road from No's 109 to 157 as shown on Drawings 2153/CS/GL/001A, 2153/CS/GL/002A and 2153/CS/GL/003A in Appendix A of the report.  The Cabinet Member for Traffic, Transport and Parking also requested officers to look into the possibility of widening the 20mph limit within the area.

2)         An 18 month experimental gated closure outside 45 Coleshill Road as shown on Drawing 2153/CS/GL/003A in Appendix A.  The Cabinet Member for Traffic, Transport and Parking asked officers to liaise with the National Physical Labaratory (NPL) to assist with the turning circle in Coleshill Road, and to look further at reducing the loss of parking due to the proposals.   The Cabinet Member agreed that the gated closure would be reviewed after a period of 9 months to ensure that the gate was not having an adverse impact on the surrounding traffic network and on the availability of resident parking.

3)         A further review with the police of the traffic network impacts of a 7.5 tonne weight restriction along the entire length of Queens Road.

4)         That officers consult with local residents and Ward Councillors over the relocation of the existing pedestrian refuge outside 79 Park Road to outside 71 Park Road, as shown on Drawing 2153/CS/GL/002A in Appendix A.
