The St Margarets Riverside community parking scheme will be extended following a consultation with residents earlier this year.
The consultation was held following concerns from residents that daytime commuter traffic and non-residential parking has resulted in a lack of available parking spaces for the community.
The results of the consultation showed strong support for the scheme to be extended. The scheme will be extended to Heron Road, Haliburton Road, Kilmorey Gdns, Kilmorey Rd, Newry Road, Northcote Road, St Margarets Road, Railshead Rd and Talbot Rd.
Cllr Peter Buckwell, Cabinet Member for Highways and Street Scene said:
“Following engagement with the St Margarets community the Council will extend the Riverside Scheme to a further nine roads, providing more options for residents parking their cars in St Margaret’s.
“I am confident residents will feel this addresses their concerns about a lack of parking spaces available to the community due to daytime commuter traffic and non-residents taking up parking spaces.
“The changes are in line with the Council’s overarching policy to address localised parking problems and road safety problems caused by parked vehicles, including the essential need to maintaining access for the emergency services.”
