A new community parking zone (CPZ) will be implemented in West Twickenham following a consultation with residents earlier this year.
The consultation was held following concerns from residents that daytime commuter traffic and non-residential parking has resulted in a lack of available parking spaces for the community.
The results of the consultation showed strong support for the introduction of parking controls in the area. The scheme will be implemented in two areas: around Colne Road (east of May Road), Knowle Road, Edwin Road, Albion Road, Marsh Farm Road, Talbot Road, Hamilton Road, Warwick Road, and Norcutt Road, and around Crane Road, May Road, Gravel Road, and Gould Road;
The scheme is expected to be implemented in February / March 2018 and will be reviewed after six months.
Cllr Peter Buckwell, Cabinet Member for Highways and Street Scene said:
“Following engagement with the local community the Council will implement a new parking control scheme in the areas north of The Green in Twickenham.
“I am confident residents will feel this addresses their concerns about parking spaces available to the community due to daytime commuter traffic and non-residents taking up parking spaces.
“The changes are in line with the Council’s overarching policy to address localised parking problems and road safety problems caused by parked vehicles, including the essential need to maintain access for the emergency services.”
