Cemeteries
We aim to deliver a professional and caring service through our sympathetic, competent and trained staff. Our priority is to ensure that all funerals are organised and conducted in a dignified and orderly manner. We understand that a meaningful funeral is an important part of the grieving process. We recognise that each person's needs are different and try to make every funeral as personal and unhurried as possible.

Contact the Cemeteries Team
For any information or assistance, please contact:
The Cemetery Office
East Sheen Cemetery,
Sheen Road,
Richmond,
TW10 5BJ
Telephone: 020 8876 4511
Fax: 020 8878 8118
Email: cemeteries@richmond.gov.uk
The office is open Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm, excluding Public Holidays, Christmas and New Year.
An answer phone service is available if your call cannot be answered personally. As we attend each burial, and are often out of the office with families, there may be occasions when the office is not staffed. However, this is usually for no longer than an hour.
So that you are seen without delay, we would ask that you make an appointment if you would like to meet with us, either at the cemetery office, or at any of our cemeteries.
Cemetery of the Year Awards (CYA)
This is the eleventh year of the Cemetery of the Year Awards, organised by the Memorial Awareness Board. The awards aim to raise standards in burial grounds by encouraging improvements, maintenance and facilities for the bereaved. The CYA recognises and rewards the hard work and commitment that is needed to maintain high standards in a cemetery or burial ground.
This is the first time that the East Sheen and Richmond Cemetery has been entered and we are delighted to have received an “honourable mention” award and plaque after being included in the last four finalists in the Cemeteries Over 15 Acres category.
Adopt a Grave
June-Anne Worby often walked through our Twickenham Cemetery, as she found it a peaceful place to visit. On one of her visits, she thought how sad it was to see so many neglected graves, and wondered how she could give something back to the community.
We came up with the idea of "adopt a grave". This is an innovative new scheme which will help preserve the rich heritage of the borough's cemeteries. To find out more, please visit our Adopt a Grave page.
Twickenham Cemetery Extension
Work to extend the Twickenham cemetery started in August 2007. A special memorial is being planned for the children and babies buried in the cemetery. If you would like to see the options and chose the design you prefer the most, please visit the Twickenham Cemetery page.
Please note
There are two cemeteries in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames which are managed by Hammersmith and Fulham Cemeteries Department. These are North Sheen (also known as Fulham New) and Mortlake (also known as Hammersmith New). The contact telephone number is 020 7385 3650.
