Art lovers in Richmond upon Thames are being offered a backstage pass by local artists, craftspeople and students who will be opening their studio doors for the borough’s annual ARThouse open studios event this summer.
The festival, which starts on 22 June, is organised by Richmond Council’s Arts Service. It sees local artists opening up their houses, studios and gardens as exhibition space to the public over two weekends. This year, over 80 local artists, 12 community groups and 7 schools will showcase a variety of their artwork, celebrating the local area.
Cllr Pamela Fleming, Strategic Cabinet Member for Community, Business and Culture on Richmond Council said: “Allowing visitors into private studios offers a unique opportunity to see where local art is created and will give art lovers a chance to buy original works made in the borough. Richmond is well known for its artistic talent and there’s no better way to view local art and meet your local artists than this festival.”
