Commercial noise

We can investigate complaints about noise from commercial premises that is seriously affecting your right to enjoy your home.

It may be worth approaching the business to see if it is possible to resolve the matter informally before pursuing a formal complaint with the Council. In addition to noise nuisance, we also regulate some industrial sites by permitting their operation as particular processes have potential to cause pollution.

Construction noise

Construction sites can generate significant levels of noise and vibration and cause disturbance to residents and businesses in the vicinity of the site. However, much of the noise generated is unavoidable and noise control methods are a balancing act between the needs of the builder or developer to carry out the works, and the rights of neighbour not to be unreasonably disturbed in their homes.
