Housing strategy, service development and performance

As well as providing a number of services directly to the community, Housing Services has other more strategic aims and responsibilities, including;

• Identifying housing-related problems (see our housing research) developing and delivering strategies and plans to tackle them.
• Ensuring that our services deliver Best Value and that our performance is continuously improving.
• Setting and publishing customer service standards to inform customers about the standards of service they can expect to receive.
• Promoting good relations between our different communities, and ensuring the equality of opportunity and avoidance of discrimination in the planning and delivery of our services.
• Supporting partnership working in particular fields like homelessness, private-sector housing, supporting people and liaisons with housing associations.
• Developing affordable housing in partnership with housing associations, private-sector developers and others.
• Developing staff and performance management to achieve Investors in People status.
