Street cleaning

Our aim is to make our Borough green, safe and clean by:

  • Cleaning publicly owned roads and pavements
  • Emptying street litter bins
  • Providing special cleaning arrangements for large events within the Borough
  • Clearing graffiti in accordance with our terms
  • Reporting fly-tips, overgrown vegetation and abandoned vehicles to the appropriate team

Let us know if your street needs to be cleaned.

Rubbish on private land

We are not responsible for cleaning privately owned areas (for example front or rear gardens) which are heavily littered. However, in certain circumstances the Council has the power to require the occupier/land owner to clean these areas, so please contact us by email: streetsceneenforcement@richmond.gov.uk.

Help keep your streets clean

  • Dispose of waste, dog fouling, and litter (including chewing gum and cigarette butts) in a lawful and responsible manner. Wrapped dog fouling can be disposed of in any street litter bin
  • Help us to clean footways and carriageways by parking considerately and moving your vehicle where possible when the sweeper attends on the street cleaning day
  • Keep all vegetation on your property cut back to your property boundary to ensure the footpaths are kept clear and accessible
  • Ensure your waste and recycling is kept on your own property and is adequately contained when presented for collection so that it does not cause litter
